Thank you for visiting the Peoria Barge Terminal web site. The services we provide at Peoria Barge Terminal are primarily related to freight transfer and storage. Our facilities are located next to the Illinois River and are within close, easy access to the interstate highway system as well as railway systems.
As a multi-modal terminal, Peoria Barge Terminal can handle loading or offloading of cargo from barges, trucks and rail cars. Our 1,200-foot unloading dock gives us the ability to handle up to 4 barges at a time, and our on-site rail spur can accommodate up to 24 standard-size rail cars. Heavy equipment at the terminal includes cranes (up to 100-ton capacity), endloaders (for bulk materials), and a variety of forklifts.
The terminal property covers approximately 100 acres of land and is zoned heavy industrial. Storage capacities currently include 40 acres of outside storage and about 200,000 square feet of inside storage. Warehousing is within a fenced area, and security guards patrol the entire facility during non-working hours. We have several tanks on the terminal property for liquid storage as well.
As our customers' needs require we also provide additional services that range from repacking, sorting and weighing of materials to functions such as bill of lading preparation and automated inventory programs.
